The International HIV/AIDS Alliance (the Alliance) is an international development non-governmental organisation which was set up in 1993 by a consortium of international donors. The Alliance was established to respond to the need for a specialist, professional intermediary organisation which would work in effective partnership with non-governmental and community-based organisations in developing countries, as well as with national governments, private and public donors and the UN system. The Alliance's mission is to support communities in developing countries to play a full and effective role in the global response to AIDS. The Conference:
As the first conference of its kind to be held in Southeast Asia, the XV International AIDS Conference has a Thai Chair, Dr. Vallop Thaineua who is working closely with co-chair, Joep Lange, IAS President. The program content will be drawn together by two Program Committees, the Community Program Committee chaired by Senator Mechai Viravaidya and Donald De Gagne; and the Scientific Program Committee chaired by Professor Prasert Thongcharoen and Professor David Cooper.

The AIDS Memorial Quilt is a poignant memorial, a powerful tool for prevention education and the largest ongoing community arts project in the world. Each of the more than 44,000 colorful panels in the Quilt memorializes the life of a person lost to AIDS.
